New Marginal Markings Committee web site

The Marginal Markings Committee is pleased to announce a Marginal Markings web site - http://marginal-markings.usstamps.org.

The site is intended to share knowledge of marginal markings on U.S. stamps and encourage the reporting of and research into marginal markings.  Comments and questions are welcome!  Committee membership is open to all interested members of the United States Stamp Society.

The goal of the web site is to eventually address the full range of marginal markings on U.S. stamps.

2003 Annual Board Meeting Committee Report

This is a committee of one person.  Several partially completed manuscripts are in progress, whose completion depend on more research.

  • "Feed Lines," September, 2001, pp. 401-406.
  • "Feed Holes and the End of Flat Plate Printing," November, 2001, pp. 489-497.

I have around seven partially completed manuscripts in progress, whose completion depend on more research and have been shelved temporarily primarily for health reasons.  My traveling days are over and I regret not being able to attend any of the national meetings.

2000 Annual Board Meeting Committee Report

This is essentially a one-person committee.  Current research is being undertaken in assembling data for articles on the subjects "Registration Markings, Where is the Law?;" "Part II, Sizes of U.S. Stamps;" "Some Plate Markings on U.S. Beer Stamps and other Revenue Stamps;" an article about an unusual proof.

My latest article appeared in the December, 1999 issue of The Specialist: "The Calendar, Year Dates and Some Marginal Markings" (see page 559).
