2007 Annual Board Meeting Committee Report

This committee remains a one-man operation.  I receive half-a-dozen inquiries each year about some aspect of revenue stamp collecting that I answer with a letter which includes an invitation to become more formally involved, but my correspondents are not joiners.  My e-mail address is known to those with whom I correspond regularly.

Since the Washington meeting, I have had three papers published:

  • "Is It Time to Reinstate a Savings Stamp Program?" The United States Specialist, Vol. 77, No. 11 (November, 2006), pp. 513-520.
  • "Maple Syrup and Philately," The United States Specialist, Vol. 78, No. 2 (February, 2007), pp. 54-58.
  • "Certificate For Chinese Subject of Exempt Class," The American Revenuer, Vol. 60 (Sept-Oct, 2006) pp. 144-146.

Several additional papers have been accepted but not yet published.

At the SE Stamp Show in Atlanta in September, 2006, the Federation awarded me the Rowland Hill Award.  Editorial comment on this award appeared in The United States Specialist, Vol. 77, No. 9 (September, 2006), pp. 388.

2005 Annual Board Meeting Committee Report

This is a one-person committee.  I am continuing working with Consular Fee stamps and Playing Card issues.  An article about a revenue-stamped document appeared in the July, 2005 Specialist under the title "No Fee, No Stamp."  The American Revenuer and U.S. Stamp News have both accepted manuscripts for future publication.  Recently I exhibited at AmeriStamp Expo 2005 in Atlanta.

2002 Annual Board Meeting Committee Report

This is a one-man committee at the present time.  Recent publications include four Revenue Issue articles in The U.S. Specialist (since our last Annual Meeting) with more articles to follow.  The chairman has also shown Revenue Issue exhibits in several shows around the country in the past year.

2001 Annual Board Meeting Committee Report

The committee continues to be a one-man committee.  Current research includes work on Consular sites and identification of wartime "in lieu of" forms (including those with revenue usages).

Articles that have appeared in The Specialist since the last meeting at NAPEX 2000: Vol. 71, pp. 330-331 (July, 2000; book review); Vol.71, pp. 346 (August, 2000; report on committee activities); 71, 423-426 (September, 2000; "Consular Service Fee Stamps Initial Usages").  Two other articles appeared earlier in 2000.

2000 Annual Board Meeting Committee Report

The committee is currently conducting research to establish the earliest dates of usage of various revenue issues and to compile lists of obscure U.S. consular sites and examples of RK usage.

Three articles have been published since the last BIA annual meeting; two have drawn reader response.  Articles appeared in The United States Specialist, Vol. 70 (1999), pp. 131-133, pp. 519-524; Vol. 71 (2000), pp. 122-130.
